The Oxonian Society

1. Do you have to have gone to Oxford to join the Oxonian Society®?

Absolutely not – we are proud to admit anybody who is interested in hearing the type of world-class speakers who generously choose to donate their time, and expertise, to undergraduates at Oxford and the world’s other great universities. While it is true that we have a great many members from Oxford, Cambridge and the Ivy League, anybody can join the Oxonian Society®. We are non-elitist and ask only intellectual curiosity and a respectful manner towards the Society’s guests.

2. What is the mission of the Oxonian Society®?

The Oxonian Society® is dedicated to provocative discussion and debate with the world's best and most interesting minds, and is a Manhattan-based non-partisan non-profit organization. By connecting great leaders and thinkers with a highly intelligent, motivated, experienced and well-networked audience, the Society hopes to play a small role in shaping the great debates of our generation. The Society is committed to providing access to this generation's leaders and great thinkers in hopes that we can inspire the next. The Society is open to people of all educational backgrounds and experiences.

3. Is the Oxonian Society® a not for profit organization?

Yes, it is. The Oxonian Society® is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in New York and is an exempt organization under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

4. Why is your membership price so low?

We aim to bring the world-class speakers we offer to as wide an audience as possible and want everybody to have the chance to hear them.

5.  Is the Oxonian Society® connected to Oxford University, or to the old member bodies for Oxford University?

No. It is a completely independent and private society that has nothing to do with the University. Oxford's official old member body for New York, which is exclusively for those who attended Oxford, is the Oxford Alumni Association of New York - their website is to be found here www.oxalumny.org.  We encourage any of our members who went to Oxford to also join their association.
